The chance of an English club winning the European Cup once again this season is at an all-time high with all four Premier League sides within the top six contenders for the trophy, according to the Champions League odds.
Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United are joined by PSG and Bayern Munich with the six best odds for the Champions League, while the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus are way down.
The Champions League group stage draw has thrown up some fascinating encounters but perhaps none more so than in Group A, where the two favourites – Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain – will meet.
Neither outfit has ever won European football’s elite club competition despite being bankrolled by Middle Eastern owners, with the Champions League seen as the crowning jewel for the sporting aspirations of both Abu Dhabi and Qatar.
Champions League Winner Odds: Premier League Clubs
Team | Best Odds | Probability |
---|---|---|
Manchester City | 9/2 | 18.2% |
Chelsea | 7/1 | 12.5% |
Liverpool | 10/1 | 9.1% |
Manchester United | 20/1 | 4.8% |
Group A is made up of another ‘new money’ team in RB Leipzig, while Belgian side Club Brugge are handed the unenviable job of handling the Group of Death.
Meanwhile, bookmakers have Chelsea down as the fourth favourites to win the Champions League this season, having beaten City in the final three months ago.
Thomas Tuchel’s men face a clash with Italian giants Juventus, who were arguably lucky to qualify for the tournament this term. Zenit and Malmo mean the Blues will be jetting east from London twice this autumn.
Manchester United lost to Villarreal in the Europa League in May and face the Spaniards again in Group F, alongside Atalanta and Young Boys.
And Luis Suarez will once again return to Anfield as an opposition player with his Atletico Madrid side drawn against Jurgen Klopp’s men in Group B. Liverpool will also face Porto and Milan in one of the toughest groups of the tournament.
What Are The Odds On Man City Winning the Champions League?
Lionel Messi will be heading to the Etihad this season but not in the way some of us expected during the transfer window. PSG are the only team more likely to win the Champions League than City this term, if the bookmakers’ football odds are to be believed. The stage is set for two pulsating games and City will have to be on their toes here.
After all, dropping points against PSG could put them in danger of missing out on the knockout stages, with Leipzig also in the mix. This is a dangerous group and will require Pep Guardiola to deploy full-strength teams to combat PSG and Leipzig. Even Club Brugge could sneak a draw if the boss isn’t careful. Don’t be surprised if City’s Champions League winner odds actually expand slightly.
Man City to win Champions League odds: 9/2
Group A:
- Manchester City
- PSG
- Leipzig
- Club Brugge
What Are The Odds On Chelsea Winning the Champions League?
Boss Tuchel would likely have taken this draw before it all started. Juventus are certainly not the team they once were and the departure of Cristian Romero to Tottenham over the summer has weakened them. The Blues will be favourites to take at least four points off the Serie A side, even if Cristiano Ronaldo is present.
As for Zenit and Malmo, Chelsea could have had worse opponents from Pots 3 and 4. Granted a trip to St Petersburg isn’t ideal and nor is Sweden in the winter, but Tuchel will be confident of topping this group at 11/20, potentially with a game to spare. Chelsea were 8/1 to win the Champions League before the draw and are now 7/1. Those odds will only slim further over time.
Chelsea to win Champions League odds: 7/1
Group H:
- Chelsea
- Juventus
- Zenit
- Malmo
What Are The Odds On Liverpool Winning the Champions League?
Considering the financial troubles hanging over Real Madrid and Barcelona this summer, there is a very real prospect of Atletico defending their La Liga title. And Diego Simeone could be justified in having an eye on the Champions League too. Atletico under the lights at Anfield will be a thrilling spectacle that the Reds should edge – although the match odds will likely be tight.
Liverpool’s life isn’t made much easier by a group also consisting of Porto and Milan. The Portuguese side reached the Champions League quarter-finals last term and actually signed Marko Grujic from Liverpool over the summer. Milan, meanwhile, could prove tricky with Olivier Giroud in their arsenal and boss Stefano Pioli making steady progress at the San Siro.
The tricky group saw football betting sites widen their odds on Liverpool winning the Champions League from 9/1 to 10/1. Whether that trend continues depends on how they fare in their opening clash.
Liverpool to win Champions League odds: 10/1
Group B:
- Atletico Madrid
- Liverpool
- Porto
- Milan
What Are The Odds On Man Utd Winning the Champions League?
If Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is to get United back to the top of European football he needs to start escaping the traps of the Europa League. He has arguably been gifted a group here that United should navigate with ease. Considering they were in Pot 2, United have drawn the weakest of the Spanish teams and an Atalanta side that has spent little on reinforcements over the summer.
Young Boys wraps up Group F – the Swiss side have the fifth-lowest coefficient ranking in the competition. Three years ago United beat Young Boys home and away with little difficultly, and six points should be assured here.
Granted, Villarreal may send chills down the spines of some fans but realistically this is United’s group to top at 7/10. And at 20/1 to win the competition, there are certainly worse teams to back.
Manchester United to win the Champions League: 20/1
Group F:
- Villarreal
- Manchester United
- Atalanta
- Young Boys
