In July, Pennsylvania sports betting saw a drop for a third consecutive month in online and total handle, while table games gross revenue broke a monthly record that has stood for more than two years, according to official figures released Wednesday by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB).
The sports betting for the month in Pennsylvania registered a total handle of $304.4 million in July, down a considerable 27.6% from June’s $420.19 million, but up just 84.7% from $164.78 million posted in July 2020.
In the 2020-21 fiscal year, which ended in June, the Keystone State’s total sports betting handle was just shy of $6 billion at $5.591 billion. July began the 2021-22 fiscal year in the state.
July mobile sports betting numbers saw another decrease, posting $275.44 million, down 27.4% from June’s $379.26 million. It was, however, up by 77.3% from $155.35 million from a year ago, according to the official numbers.
In July, online sports betting moved up a smidge to 90.5% of the market, from 90.3% a month ago. For the 2020-21 fiscal year it was 92.1% of the market.
The Keystone State saw its two-month increase streak for gross sports wagering revenue snapped, coming in at $19.85 million, down a dramatic 42% from June’s $34.22 million. However, the number was a 143.7% increase of just $8.14 million a year ago.

PA Online Gaming Impressive
On the online casino front, Pennsylvania numbers were stellar in July.
Table games gross revenue for July came in at $86.92 million, up 12% from June’s $77.58 million and breaking the monthly record of $82.527M set in March 2019.
PA interactive slots handle saw an uptick to $1.745 billion, up a nice 5.5% from June’s $1.654 billion and its gross revenue also was positive, posting $63.22 million, up 4.6% from June’s $60.45 million. The state record of $67.2 million was established in May.
Retail slots handle saw a nice rebound of $2.761 billion, up 18.5% from June’s $2.330 billion. Retail slots gross terminal revenue saw a significant jump as well, coming in at $222.874 million, up 21.8% from June’s $182.971 million.
Two decreases did continue.
Interactive banked table games handle came in at $1.430 billion, slightly down 1.4% from June’s $1.451 billion, and gross revenue registered at $22.85 million, down 12.2% from June’s $26.04 million.
PA online poker sites were led by Mount Airy/PokerStars, which collected $1.97 million in tournament and rake fees in July, down a tad from $2 million in June.
FanDuel Handle Down in July
Valley Forge Casino in King of Prussia, just outside of Philadelphia, with a FanDuel Sportsbook, had $108.48 million in July total handle, down from $164.8 million in June.
The Meadows near Pittsburgh, which has partnered with DraftKings Sportsbook, saw $67.20 million in total handle, down from June’s $87.5 million. It was $101.4 million in May.
The Rivers casinos in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, with BetRivers Sportsbooks, drew a combined $32.82 million in July handle, down from $42.5 million in June.
Penn National’s Hollywood Casino Morgantown also dropped to $29.04 million, from $37.4 million in June.
